Concrete Products - Concrete interlocking blocks

Precast Concrete interlocking Building blocks & Concrete Panel manufacturing

Evans Transport are able to provide varying sizes of concrete products.

Using 52.5 CEM 1 cement we can produce high strength Interlocking Concrete Blocks commonly known as Pre-Cast blocks. This type of block is perfect for building retaining walls or storage bays (grain storage, Silage, Aggregate waste etc) as well as using for vehicle / test weights or for building a partition or supporting wall. All the blocks are fitted with 1 or 2 lifting pins and the clinches can also be sent as part of the order.

Our precast concrete blocks are available for collection from our Bideford yard or can be delivered. If you do not have offload facilities we can use our fleet of Crane offload (Hiab) or Forklift offload (Moffett) vehicles to assist in the delivery process.

The following table shows the size approx. weight and collected price. For deliveries and large enquiries please call our friendly team who will be able to assist on 01237 475 566

Concrete Products - Concrete panelling

Evans Transport
Concrete Panelling

In addition to our Ready Mix plant and Pre-Cast Concrete blocks we also manufacture high quality pre-stressed Concrete Walling Panels. These walling panels are a perfect solution for the agricultural, waste, commercial and industrial sectors for both new or existing sheds, warehouses, and other steel structures.

evans transport concrete panellingThe panels are easily put together utilising a tongue and groove system allowing the wall panels to be put up quickly & efficiently as opposed to more costly shuttered walling or traditional blockwork which therefore doesn’t require a foundation. The sections can be either placed between the stanchions or fixed to the face of the steel work. Concrete Walling panels are suitable for both external and internal walls. This flexible solution allows for easier alterations to be completed at future dates.

As the panels are prestressed with 9.3mm wire and with high quality concrete enable the panels to reach strengths more than 50 N.

We can make panels at widths of 1000mm, 1200mm and 1500mm with thicknesses of both 95mm and 145mm with lengths up to 7m.

The lighter narrower panels are great for housing livestock, machinery storage, racked warehousing and workshop/factory environments whereas the thicker panels evans transport concrete panellingheavier panels are suitable for load bearing applications such as grain stores, sand & aggregate bays, slurry / silage pits and waste transfer stations and scrap yards as well as other applications. The thicker concrete walling panels can be constructed to be either load bear on both sides or one side depending on your needs.

We keep a range of 20ft (6.09m) and 15ft (4.57m) in stock but will manufacturer to the size required. All panels are manufactured with fixing points and lifting eyes and we also keep the fixing plates and clasp in stock should you require them.

With our extensive transport fleet, we control all the movements for the raw materials in and the finished product out to ensure we can offer a competitive, economic and timely solution to ensure you get your product when you require it.

Quality, certification and traceability

Evans Transport has been part of the North Devon landscape since 1947. Today we manufacture precast concrete products and ready-mixed concrete at our own sites in Bideford, which means the material in every interlocking block we cast is produced, batched and quality-controlled by us rather than bought in.

Concrete is a construction product, and the standards that govern it are specific about what is certified and where. We think it is worth being precise about that, so the detail below sets out exactly which of our products are covered by which certificate.

BSI Kitemark – ready-mixed concrete

Our ready-mixed concrete plant at Bideford Business Park holds BSI Kitemark certificate KM 593856, assessed against BS EN 206:2013+A2:2021 and BS 8500-2:2023. The certificate was first issued in 2013 and has been maintained continuously since, most recently reissued in September 2025.

The scope covers Designated, Designed, Prescribed, Standardized Prescribed and Proprietary Concrete, all conforming to BS 8500-2:2023, produced under a quality system based on BS EN ISO 9001.

The Kitemark is one of the most recognised quality marks in British construction. For a ready-mix customer it means the concrete leaving our plant is independently audited against the national standard, not simply declared compliant by us.

UKCA certification – precast wall and retaining wall panels

Our precast plant at Gammaton Road holds a UKCA Certificate of Conformity of the Factory Production Control, number 0086 CPR 805861, issued by BSI as Approved Body 0086 under the Construction Products Regulations.

It certifies our factory production control against BS EN 14992:2007+A1:2012 (precast concrete wall elements) and BS EN 15258:2008 (precast concrete retaining wall elements), under AVCP system 2+ — the level that requires ongoing third-party surveillance of the plant, not a one-off assessment.

This certificate applies to our concrete walling panels.

What this means for our interlocking blocks

Our interlocking blocks are not themselves covered by either certificate above, and we would rather say so plainly than imply otherwise.

What we can tell you is this: the blocks are cast from our own ready-mixed concrete — the same Kitemark-certified material, produced to BS EN 206 and BS 8500 under a quality system based on BS EN ISO 9001, that we supply to construction sites across the region. We use 52.5 CEM I cement to achieve a high-strength block.

So while the block is not a certified product in its own right, the concrete it is made from is batched under an independently audited régime, in our plant, to a national standard. Not every block supplier can say the same.

Stone-faced interlocking blocks

Not every retaining wall is tucked out of sight. Where a wall will be seen — a domestic garden, a farm entrance, a site in a conservation area or National Landscape — we also produce our interlocking blocks with a natural stone face.

The finish is cast into the block itself, so you get the same interlocking format, the same lifting arrangement and the same concrete behind it, with a stone wall on the visible side.

Because they stack and lift exactly like our plain blocks, a faced wall goes up in the same time as an unfaced one — considerably quicker than building in natural stone, and without the foundation work a traditional stone wall would need.

Lifting, handling and safe stacking

Every block is cast with threaded anchor sockets and supplied with one or two lifting pins as appropriate to its size, with clutches available as part of the order.

The lifting loops we supply are M20 units carrying their own Declaration of Conformity to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, rated at a safe working load of 2,000 kg (2.0 tonnes) against a test load of 4,000 kg (4.0 tonnes).

On stacking: we recommend blocks are stacked no higher than four courses unless you have a drawing prepared by a structural engineer. We are happy to assist your engineer with any information they need.
