Mae Smith haircut for The Little Princess Trust

Mae Smith haircut seymour transport

Mae Smith the daughter of Michael Smith from Seymour Transport has been growing her hair for two years now with the intention of donating it for children in need of it. Today is the day when she cuts it off, and whilst she's a little apprehensive, she's ready to embrace the change.

Obviously, donating her hair is a huge gift for the Little Princess Trust. It does cost money to have it transformed in to a wig. Any contribution, big or small would be very gratefully received. Thank you for taking the time to read Mae's story.

The Little Princess Trust makes and gives wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as Alopecia.

The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

The Little Princess Trust relies solely on the generosity of its wonderful supporters who help the charity give Hair and Hope to so many children and young people with cancer each year.

CRY's Charity Boxing - Cardiac Risk in the Young

Evans Transport charity boxing Cardiac Risk in the Young 5

We would like to congratulate Lyon Franks with his win over opponent Paul Ebsworthy on Saturday nights charity boxing match.

Lyon who works in the commercial workshop as our inhouse tyre fitter decided to get involved in CRY’s (Cardiac Risk in the Young) fight night to raise money for a charity who focus on preventing sudden deaths in the young through awareness screening and research, as well as supporting affected families.

He has had to wait over a year for his opportunity with COVID preventing the event from running.

We were fortunate to sponsor Lyon's bout which resulted in a victory for him after the 1st round.

Well done to both fighters and on raising money for a well deserved charity.

Laura's Marathon Effort!

Evans Transport Laura London Marathon 2019

Sunday April 28th was the day when all the winter training and fundraising came together and Laura took on a challenge most of us would run away from.

As you will probably know already Mum, Sue, has been battling breast cancer and has been supported by Breast Cancer Care along the way. As a thank you for all their care and advice Laura decided to take part in the Virgin Money London Marathon 2019 to raise much needed funds for such a vital service.

With lots of supporters cheering her on Laura completed the marathon in 5 hours 44 minutes but she actually managed to run further than most completing 31 miles! Talk about making the most of your day!

After collecting her precious medal she was reunited with her family and supporters to enjoy a well earned glass of prosecco.

At the time of writing this Lauras Just Giving page total stands at a massive £11,464.00. This has only been possible because of the support of many friends and family and she's incredibly grateful to you all.

London Marathon 2019 for Breast Cancer Care

breast cancer care

Our very own Laura Evans will be running The London Marathon 2019 for the Breast Cancer Care Charity. Laura has been inspired by her mother Sue's fight against Breast Cancer and they really appreciate the support given to her by this amazing charity.

Laura writes:

I have decided to run the London Marathon 2019 for my Mum. I am not a ‘natural’ runner but I wanted to give something back to Breast Cancer Care.

2018, for our family, has not been an easy year. In June, my amazingly strong mum found a lump in her breast, this was a massive shock to the whole family and was a struggle for us all to get our heads around. After copious trips to Plymouth for test after test she was diagnosed with Grade 2 Breast Cancer. In July, shortly after her 50th birthday, she underwent surgery to have the lump removed along with other procedures. Soon after the operation we learnt the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes and she would need to have Chemotherapy followed by Radiology. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and its been tough on us all, especially her.

Breast Cancer Care have been amazing and supportive from the start. They’ve not only been there for my mum but have supported the whole family. They dedicate so much to those families going through similar situations to my mum. I am running the marathon to raise as much as I can for this amazing charity so that they can continue to help and support other people who need it!

Devon Air Ambulance

Evanstransport air ambulance 02

We have recently applied this eye catching vinyl to our smooth sided bulk tipping trailer supporting the Devon Air Ambulance charity. It will hopefully help raise awareness for the charity, by traveling around the South West of England and encouraging people to donate.

The aim is "to relieve sickness and injury in and around the county of Devon through provision of an emergency Air Ambulance Service."

Every year the Charity needs to raise £5.5 million to run the service.  In addition, we need to raise around £1m more to build capital funds in order to ensure we can replace our aircraft after ten years’ service and to meet significant maintenance and repair costs plus ambitious plans to extend our operating hours.

Keep a look out for this trailer and donate if you can.

le-Tour-De-Devon-transport-01

On May 1st 2016 - 72 cyclists took on the tough North Devon 100 cycle challenge including Evans Transport own driver  (Cinders). Evans transport has supported the ride from its very inception, a one off event called Le Tour De Devon.

This year the event raised £4500, which will be split between The Chestnut Appeal, a prostate cancer charity based at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and Combe Martin Football Club.

The club has held the event from the first ride and is in much need of modernisation.

So far the ride has raised over £22,000 for various charities such as Help for Heroes, Devon Air Ambulance and North Devon Hospice.

"The North Devon 100 is very greatful for the support that Evans Transport has given us over the last 4 years and we hope it will continue for the foreseeable future."
