This year Ian, Richard and Simon gave up their time to take part of the south west children’s convoy which takes children and their carers from Bude to the Milky way for a fun day out.
The event is organised by South West Truckers and sees many Lorries running up the A39.
Sunday April 28th was the day when all the winter training and fundraising came together and Laura took on a challenge most of us would run away from.
As you will probably know already Mum, Sue, has been battling breast cancer and has been supported by Breast Cancer Care along the way. As a thank you for all their care and advice Laura decided to take part in the Virgin Money London Marathon 2019 to raise much needed funds for such a vital service.
With lots of supporters cheering her on Laura completed the marathon in 5 hours 44 minutes but she actually managed to run further than most completing 31 miles! Talk about making the most of your day!
After collecting her precious medal she was reunited with her family and supporters to enjoy a well earned glass of prosecco.
At the time of writing this Lauras Just Giving page total stands at a massive £11,464.00. This has only been possible because of the support of many friends and family and she's incredibly grateful to you all.
Evans Transport have teamed up with the Honest Truth Campaign and Devon and Cornwall Police Crime Commissioner to try and help make the roads safer.
Full backdoor images have been placed on the rear of trailers and vehicles with simple messages to promote road safety.
The messages are trying to reiterate that undertaking these actions could result in death on the road.
With people having to follow our vehicles on major roads we are hoping they will see these messages and it will sink in and make them think twice before putting their lives and the lives of others at risk.
Evans Transport have a new DAF truck this week. This is the first 19 plate truck we have received and the first DAF XF truck we have had since 2006.
The DAF XF is the space cab with the latest 480hp Euro 6 engine and we have four more on order and coming soon!
This particular one has been based on our Pallet Operation this truck is expected to hit 1 million KM within the next 4 years.

On Saturday Evans Transport were match ball sponsors for the game between Exeter Chiefs and Newcastle Falcons.
It was a great game seeing The Chiefs bring home a win of 35 - 17.

This will all be added to my Marathon total for Breast Cancer Care.
We have updated one of mixers to a brand new DAF mixers.
The truck is capable of carrying 8m and holds the latest euro6 engine which helps further reduce our emissions.
The truck will be seen operating from our Bideford deport serving the North Devon area with various types of concrete which will be used for new builds, farm developments and restorations.
The new mixer is fitted with this "AwayWash" system "The AWAYWASH is the first light weight polyethylene chute wash-down system for concrete mixers. The patented design allows the truck chutes to be washed down anywhere complying with environmental requirements and avoiding the risk of contamination and fines."
Laura Evans is fundraising for Breast Cancer Care in her challenge to raise £5000 for when she runs The London Marathon in 2019.

Our very own Laura Evans will be running The London Marathon 2019 for the Breast Cancer Care Charity. Laura has been inspired by her mother Sue's fight against Breast Cancer and they really appreciate the support given to her by this amazing charity.
Laura writes:
I have decided to run the London Marathon 2019 for my Mum. I am not a ‘natural’ runner but I wanted to give something back to Breast Cancer Care.
2018, for our family, has not been an easy year. In June, my amazingly strong mum found a lump in her breast, this was a massive shock to the whole family and was a struggle for us all to get our heads around. After copious trips to Plymouth for test after test she was diagnosed with Grade 2 Breast Cancer. In July, shortly after her 50th birthday, she underwent surgery to have the lump removed along with other procedures. Soon after the operation we learnt the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes and she would need to have Chemotherapy followed by Radiology. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and its been tough on us all, especially her.
Breast Cancer Care have been amazing and supportive from the start. They’ve not only been there for my mum but have supported the whole family. They dedicate so much to those families going through similar situations to my mum. I am running the marathon to raise as much as I can for this amazing charity so that they can continue to help and support other people who need it!
On September 29th our driver Richard Maynard visited the WW1 commemoration fundraising event in Holsworthy with his Poppy Appeal liveried truck.
It was a fantastic event and a great deal of money was raised.
I think you'll agree the truck was looking fabulous in the sunshine.
Our latest Epsilon M120L Timber Crane & Grab is on a Dennison trailer chassis, and has a set of Alucar pins and bolsters. It comes complete with a rear sliding bays which allows the operator to load the timber on the trailer with easy operation of the crane and then slide the load back.
It is also the first type of crane we have with a telescopic cab which allows for additional driver comfort.

This year saw 3 of the lads taking part in the South West Truckers children’s convoy held on the 20th May.
The convoy ran from Bude rugby club back to The Milky Way. Each driver is introduced to a child or young adult along with their carer and then takes them in the cab for a ride to the Milky Way.
Everyone then goes into the Milky Way free of charge for an afternoon of fun.
Richard who is a long distance bulk tipper driver, will be raising money throughout the year for the Royal British Legion. This year commemorates 100 years since the 1st world war which ended 11th November 1918.
In order to support him to raise awareness and gain donations, additional graphics have been added to the truck.
The truck can be seen be at local fundraisers and events at weekends and during the week it will be used around the country to haul bulk products.
The graphics show a solider bowing his head and onlooking a poppy with a cross silhouette to symbolise his fallen comrade with the message:
“They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them”.
We have the rare opportunity to rent a unit or take on additional storage handling at our base in Bideford.
We have different size options available to rent as units and which can be supplied with or without racking so you know you have sole use and access to the unit you can also tailor it your own needs by adding offices etc.
Alternatively we can look after your warehousing needs and charge on a per pallet basis knowing you have the flexibility of getting your stock with our trained staff when its required and not having to invest in expensive equipment such as forklifts.
All our warehousing is cladded so storing products which need to be kept at ambient temperatures is not an issue. All the units have 3 phase and single phase electric availability.
To top this off as part of the package we have on site security 7 days a week so you know your product is stored safely and securely.
As of the 5th of March the Appledore sand yard will be closed for all collections all sand and aggregates will now be stocked at the Bideford depot along with all cements and the ability to get ready mixed concrete.
We will also have a greater stock of handy bag and dumpy bags and concrete blocks available which can be collected.

Evans Transport has just taken delivery of a brand new Cartwright 45ft artic trailer complete with mounting kit for a Moffett Mounty forklift.
The Moffett has also been provided by Cargotec on a trial basis to try this new venture which if successful the forklift will then be purchased.
The purpose is to provide the end user a solution where the forklift can be dismounted and the goods are unloaded without the need to hire in there own or have the laborious task of taking it off by hand.
The forklift is capable of lifting 2 tonne so bulky pallets can also be offloaded.
Numerous installations have been taking place around the North Devon area over the past few weeks and some of these are featured in the gallery below.
The Evans Concrete team were chosen to supply a special design ready mix concrete for the structures on the now completed Cycle Bridge across the A39 near Barnstaple.
In contrast ready mix concrete was supplied for the base of the new A39 Academy school near Bucks Mills. In both of these large constructions they were aided by a mobile pump.
Working closely with our local farming community we were pleased to supply Higher Cheglynch Farm, West Down, Ilfracombe, here Mr and Mrs Verny required 900 cubic meters for their new Silage pit.
