Hicks Logistics, a leading logistics and transport company, is seeking a dedicated and experienced HGV C+E Driver to join our team. We are currently looking to recruit drivers to cover our various sectors in General Haulage, Bulk Tipper, MOL, Ready Mix Concrete & Pallet network. This position can be made as a permanent or Ad Hoc contract of employment and be either long distance or local. You could be expected to work from one of the following locations Bideford, Caldicot, Exeter, Wrangaton, Lichfield, Barnsley, Maidstone or Sittingbourne

Terms of reference

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and drive Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) according to the C+E license requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods to various destinations, adhering to the schedule and route plans.
  • Conduct pre-use and post-use inspections of the vehicle to identify and address any maintenance or safety issues in accordance with the DVSA standards
  • Load and unload freight in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, including delivery notes, logbooks, and any other relevant documentation most of which will be captured by electronic devices
  • Maintain effective communication with the dispatch team and customers to provide updates on delivery status.
  • Follow all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Represent Hicks Logistics professionally, always demonstrating excellent customer service & keeping trucks in a clean and professional state.
Your profile

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Valid HGV C+E license.
  • Ability to take on newly qualified drivers
  • Good knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain professional relationships with clients and team members.
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including load security and potential tail lift requirements.
  • All training for various departments given.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing high-quality service.
  • Flexibility in being full time or Ad Hoc depending on preference.
